Holidays with dogs.

My family and I have recently been for a short break to Lincolnshire.  I wanted to tell you about it because not only were both my dogs welcome (often you are restricted to one), but my holiday was also donated as a raffle prize to Hope Rescue (a dog rescue organisation).

Rural roosts, are severn lovely wooden lodges surrounding a fishing lake that is not only beautiful but fishing is exclusively for people staying there so it is so peaceful.

As I have said dogs are allowed.  There is acres of space as Rural Roosts is part of a farm, although you wouldn't know that when your there, its so well secluded. Dogs must be on a lead around the farm but there are plenty of dog walking routes made for you to follow, however there are lots of places near that you can take them for a good run.

Everything had been thought of from a welcome pack of basics (including yummy lemon drizzle cake) to printed directions for you to take, with details of local shops, takeaways, vets etc.

Give Rural Roosts a go, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Dog Tag Information.

While I was walking at Cosmeston this week, a dog was found wandering without the owners in sight.  This dog thankfully was wearing a tag with the dogs name and home phone number.  Now, I would like to inform you that it is a legal requirement for a dog to wear a name tag with the following information:-

Your Name. Don't put your dogs name, it is useful for a dog napper to know what your dog answers to.

Arthritis in Dogs

Author: Alison Grimston

Arthritis is a common problem in dogs. It is recognised by symptoms such as the pet going stiff-legged after exercise, showing reluctance in going up or down the stairs or playing, and finding it uncomfortable to wake up in the morning. Before the problem gets out of hand and has a crippling effect on the life of the dog and that of the dog owner, it is important to take proper care of the dog and consult the vet for a thorough diagnosis, if required.

Let's begin by knowing what arthritis is. Arthritis is a condition involving the joints. There are two types of arthritis: Degenerative arthritis and inflammatory arthritis. In the former, the cartilage that protects the bones making the joint wither away due to various factors like overuse from strenuous activities, aging, accidents and other bodily deficiencies. This type of arthritis is also known as osteoarthritis.

Inflammatory arthritis involves inflammation of joints arising mostly from infections due to systemic deficiencies in the dog. Both the forms of arthritis in dogs are accompanied by pain and discomfort in moving the limbs.

There are two approaches to treating arthritis in dogs. However, before beginning
